Boxcryptor unlimited on HTC Desire

I've used Boxcryptor free on my desire for some time now and it runs just fine. However when i want do buy and install the unlimited version the andoid market says the device is not compatible. I have the latest version of the android market. (market via web interface also gives same message).

Can i use the unlimited version on the Desire? Or is the device not able to encrypt data and can only decrypt?

Hi Drmic,

BoxCryptor Free and Unlimited should run just fine on the HTC Desire. We also have a HTC Desire and buying BoxCryptor Unlimited Key worked without problems on the device.

In which country do you live? Can you buy other paid Android Market apps?

I have the dutch market. The app doesn't pass the market device filter. My phone is indicated as "HTC Desire". Before i can download, a message is shown "This app is incompatible with your HTC Desire." Other paid apps are all ok. I tested with the phone market and web market. In the web market i only can find the app when i disable the device filter.

Puh, that's strange. Android Market shows me that the app is compatible with HTC Desire, see the screenshot:

Hi,

I just tested with another Desire which worked ok. Seems it's an issue with my software (which is not completely original...). Strange i only have a problem with this one app.

I will do some searching on the net to figure this one out. Maybe delete the cache or uninstall the free version.

Ah ok, that could be the problem, because BoxCryptor Unlimited Key is an copy protected app and I think devices with custom roms can not buy those.

same Problem on Nexus S with Whispercore 0.5.

Whispercore is a popular security custom ROM and its really a shame, that I can't use one of the best security apps (boxcryptor) on this device.

I have serveral apps that need a PRO installation from the market, too.
One of this is Titanium Backup and it works fine on all custom apps.

I really love boxcryptor and the I don't want to miss Whispercore.

So please support BoxCryptor Unlimited Key for custom roms! ;-)

Hi Toby,

thanks for your very positive feedback! In order to support also custom roms for the Unlimited version, we'd have to implement some sort of "Licensing service" by ourselves. It is something we definitely have on our roadmap, but I can't give you any ETA on this. There are some other issues which have a higher priority for us right now (e.g. BoxCryptor for iOS) but we're doing our best to bring the BoxCryptor Unlimited Key app also to users with custom roms as soon as possible.
