Problems with Lion, EncFS 1.7.4 (installer)

Hi there,

I noticed, that my synced files from Windows-PC to my Mac cannot be written on Mac-side. So when I create a new file on windows, I might be able to access it, but there's no chance to delete or write on this file at my mac. Also some files which were created on windows, I can't open on my mac. Some other files from Win can be opened on Mac.. There is no pattern. I synced via Dropbox... Windows-Permissions are set to everyone full access. On Snow Leopard everthing worked fine...

Can u help me?

Hi hurr1c4ne,

this sounds like some permission issues on the mac side, so you should check the permissions there. Do you have the same problems with other (unencrypted) files in your Dropbox?

Hi, permissions on mac side are for some files set to "unknown permissions", on other files "read/write" (but these cannot be written). Theres absolutely no pattern to reproduce this issue. And there are absolutely no problems with unencrypted files. This issue is only on the EncFS mounted volume, crypted with BoxCryptor/Win.

I used the previous version (installer) for snow leopard with great satisfaction for several months - and it worked great... with the same files/dropbox/BoxCryptor-encrypted files. So what can I do? Current workaraound: Virtualised Windows-OS :-(

As it is very likely an issue related to EncFS only, we can only provide very limited support (as it's not our product).

You could try to get help in the EncFS mailing list (http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=97461). Another possible solution could be to use OSXFuse or Fuse4X instead of MacFUSE (which is used in our installer).

Okay, so how can I uninstall all the stuff, which came with your lion installer?

Our installer comes with an Uninstall script which you can execute to uninstall EncFS, MacFUSE and Macfusion. It is located within the installer's .dmg file.

I'm sorry that you're having problems with EncFS. BoxCryptor for Mac is already on our roadmap!
