Some Missing Files

I'm using Boxcryptor 1.2.0.2.

Not sure if there was an issue with my dropbox syncing, maybe so, but in any case, my Boxcryptor X drive doesn't seem to have all of the files that are in my dropbox folder. There are 17 files in the dropbox folder (including an .encfs file and an old conflicted .encfs file) while there are 11 files in my X drive. I've tried moving files in and out of the dropbox folder to try and goad boxcryptor to decrypt them, but it isn't doing it. There's in particular one file that I use often that isn't coming back. I can see an old conflicted version of it from a few weeks ago, but I can see neither 2 conflicted newer versions of it, nor can I see the actual file. Is there any way to refresh my list of files and have Boxcryptor decrypt the file that I'm looking at?

The file I want to decrypt is amnktrxhk6hpvc6dck9. I don't see any of the 3 files that start with amnktrxhk6hpvc6dck9 in my boxcryptor drive, but I do see
fWeLArm0EwZhUM4W0cuQ52pVyss9FphXvHFFT46W3mzDGxwIyyIC4sUa6fEMcsPJN,YoaA0 which is the fourth version of that file, an older conflicted file.

Hi stefan
you can try to switch between the two conflicted copies of the .encfs6.xml file. I would recommend you to make a backup of your files which you can currently see. Then rename the .encfs6.xml conflicted copy to .encfs6.xml and make a backup of the other .encfs6.xml file. Now after a restart of BoxCryptor your other files should be visible. Also make a backup of these files.
After that I recommend you to download BoxCryptor 1.3 from here and make a complete new setup:

With the new version it is much more difficult to destroy in any way the encfs6.xml file.

the old conflict .encfs6 file (many months old) didn't help.

other versions of .encfs6 that dropbox keeps version for didn't help.

Upgrading to 1.3 didn't help.

How do I decrypt these files that I can see in my dropbox folder, but not in my decrypted boxcryptor folder? I know my password, so I don't see where the problem would be.

I tried to name an out of date conflict file that I still have to the same name as the missing file I care about. The filesystem wouldn't let me do that as it says there's already a file that has that name. But there is not. ???

ok, so I seem to have gotten my file back. I quit boxcryptor. In the dropbox folder I renamed the invisible amnktrxhk6hpvc6dck9 to the visible file name fWeLArm0EwZhUM4W0cuQ52pVyss9FphXvHFFT46W3mzDGxwIyyIC4sUa6fEMcsPJN,YoaA0. Then I started boxcryptor back up. After it did, the file that was amnktrxhk6hpvc6dck9 now had the name that fWeLArm0EwZhUM4W0cuQ52pVyss9FphXvHFFT46W3mzDGxwIyyIC4sUa6fEMcsPJN had, and I could see it, and rename it. Whew.

Aha! I found the problem. The files that were invisible all had lower-case-only names. amnktrxhk6hpvc6dck9 is invisible to boxcryptor but AMNkTRxhk6HPVC6dck9 is visible. So if I rename amnktrxhk6hpvc6dck9 (hydra01's conflicted copy 2012-03-29) to AMNkTRxhk6HPVC6dck9 (hydra01's conflicted copy 2012-03-29) then I can see it.

Now that I type this, I think I had this problem before, and solved it the same way, but forgot about it. :-(
