Download problems if download folder is encrypted

Hello

I am running the newest BoxCryptor version on a Win7 system. I encrypted all my private folders also my download folder.

I want to download a 40 MB file with Chrome with saved it in BoxCryptor/Downloads. But the download was cancled after 1s. The same again. I tried it with the same folder on my Linux system where I am using Encfs (v 1.7.4) and every went fine.

Any ideas?
I think it can be a problem to edit "big" files which are in the BoxCryptor folder. Isn't there a lock/mutex to protect the file while it is in use?

did it work for small files?

it can be possible that between the call back file system and bc a timeout or stream error occurs.

i suggest you do the following:

To create the debug file do the following:
1) Quit BoxCryptor
2) Type into the Windows startmenu "boxcryptor.exe /debug"
3) Reproduce the error
4) Quit BoxCryptor
5) The "BoxCryptor.log" is located on your desktop

Thank you for your answer. I have just send to logfile to the support-team. The error is easy to reproduce. It is funny, but the problem only occurs, when the "BoxCryptor/Downloads" folder is used. With other folder in "BoxCryptor/xxx" there is no problem.

I have the same problem. Windows 7 / Chrome. I have a file in gmail and set to download into download folder which now is in boxcrypotor and it won't save just ask me to save to another folder

Hi,

I found a problem that might be related to the one described above:

On Windowns 8 I have changed the default Downloads folder to a folder in the BoxCryptor drive. Everything works as expected, e. g. Internet Explorer is using this folder without any problems.

However, Google Chrome is always launching the "Save As" dialog although the download location is correctly specified in Chrome settings and "Ask where to save each file before downloading" is unchecked. The very same folder works fine as a default download location for Chrome when it is not set as the system default download folder. This seems to be independent of folder names used: I tried several folder names including the standard "Downloads", the result is always the same: Chrome does not accept the folder as its default download location when it is in the BoxCryptor drive and also set as the system default download folder.

Not sure if this is a problem of Chrome or BoxCryptor or both... Any ideas?

I should have mentioned the BoxCryptor version: I'm using version 1.5.412.152

One more piece of information: when I select the same folder using the "Save As" dialog downloading to this folder works without any problems.
