BoxCryptor and Windows Index Search for Outlook

I have put the Outlook-2010 for Windows file outlook.pst into the encrypted BoxCryptor Harddrive. Since that time the outlook search for contacts or for calendar do not function, although this harddrived is listed for Windows index search. Does anybody have a suggestion?

Have you set your indexing options in windows to also index the new mounted Drive?

To do this in win 7
Control Panel -> Indexing Options -> Modify -> Add on Relevant Locations.

I'm guessing in windows, windows Index prefers to have it in the default location of 'outlook files' in my documents (You'll notice you cannot change the path on this in the indexing options), I'm guessing if you add the boxcryptor path on it may (or may not) pick it up, so it may not be a work around for you, but its worth a try

The other option would be to have your outlook file where it is, and use a program to sync outlook file over to your encrypted path where needed - such as goodsync, etc.

Does the problem still exist?

The BoxCryptor drive should be indexed by Windows Search just as any other drive. Maybe Windows Search did not yet have finished indexing your whole outlook.pst file and thus could not display the results.

Hi,

I am sorry to have to say that the indexing of outlook.pst in the BoxCryptor drive still does not work. The drive is listed in the Windows index options, and a textfile I put into it was indexed. On the other hand, if I put outlook.pst directly into the dropbox is is indexed. Now being in the BoxCryptor drive outlook does not search for contacts but it says under "search tools": "The indexing of outlook is finished."
