Direct Access to Local Files/Favorites on iOS

I'm a new paid user. Thanks for the great app.

I am using BoxCryptor on iOS v 1.2.2 and DropBox v1.5.4 on my iPad. There are several files in my encrypted BoxCryptor folder that I would like to store locally on my iPad so I can access them regardless of whether I have an internet connection. I mark them as favorites in DropBox which downloads them to the iPad even though they cannot be opened in that app.

Is there a way to have BoxCryptor access these encrypted files that have been stored locally on the iPad? The File Browser in BoxCryptor refuses to show any files unless I have an internet connection. Even when I do restore the internet connection it downloads the file again and will not look at the local copy.

At the moment BoxCryptor for iOS only supports direct Dropbox access. This means it is not possible at the moment to decrypt local copies of your files. We are currently working on better offline support so that you can access files even if you are not connected to the internet.

I know this is a two year old thread - but it doesn't look like this feature has made it to the iOS app yet, or have I missed something?

If possible, can I second this feature request (albeit 2 years late!)?

Hi Candles,

Boxcryptor for Android now allows local caching of already access files and folders, but we have not been able to add this feature to Boxcryptor for iOS yet. It is however still on our roadmap. We are currently working on a major overhaul of Boxcryptor for iOS which will bring many improvements and new features at the beginning of next year.

Thanks Robert. Do you know if this feature will be included in the new iOS version?

I suspect you might not be able to tell us, as it would ruin the surprise! So I will look forward to the new iOS version and hope to be making use of this much needed feature.
