• Boxcryptor on Android - how to decrypt files from sdcard?

Hello there,

I have problems with opening encrypted files on my android (4.1.1). What I did is, I encrypted some files with Boxcryptor on my home PC and uploaded them onto my wuala cloud. Now I wanted to access my files on my android by using the wuala application and downloading them onto my sdcard. Then I opened the Boxcryptor app and connected to the sdcard. The password dialogue popped up and after typing it in, I was successfully logged in. Now I can see the content of my sdcard with my downloaded files from wuala I would like to decrypt. If I now try to open one of these files I always get an error, e.g. the file format is not valid.

I tried to copy the .encfs6.xml from my PC into my mounted folder on the sdcard. But that didn't help either. Although I don't know if that's necessary ;-)

Will there be support for wuala in the future?

Any help would be much appreciated

With kind regards
Stefan

    Hello rumos

to use some files from your local sdcard you have to copy the .encfs6.xml file and the files you want to decrypt from Wuala. After that browse to the folder and type in your password.

If you get any error messages please post them here or create a new ticket in our support system:

You can also create a debug file using "aLogcat" from Google Play Store after the error occured. This helps us to better investigate the issue.

    Best regards

      Hello Boris,

thank you for your kind answer. In the meantime I played around a bit. As I'm using custom ROMs on my smartphone, I switched back from Android 4.1.1 where the error occured to Android 4.0.4. Now it is working flawlessly as you described (encfs6.xml in the corresponding folder).

Is it possible that Android 4.1.1 is not supported by Boxcryptor yet?

PS: It would be very helpful for other users if you could provide a manual for using Boxcryptor with an SDCard (copy the enfcs6.xml in the appropriate folder.)
PPS: Are you planing to support wuala in the future?
