File saved into BoxCryptor corrupted

I was moving some files from Evernote into Dropbox/BoxCryptor, and found the pdf files save from Evernote to BoxCryptor corrupted.

What I did:
- On Mac running OSX 10.8.2
- in an Evernote that contains a pdf file
- right click on the file and saved it directly into a BoxCryptor folder
- in finder, the file thumbnail shows up correctly
- in finder, press space bar to open a quick look, it appears correctly
- in finder, double click on the file to open it in Preview, a popup window shows up and complains the file is corrupted.

The work-around:
- if I first save the file to the Desktop then drag it into the BoxCryptor folder, the file is then not corrupted.

Notes:
- I have only tried pdf files.

I hope it can be resolved!

Further update:

It appears just saving a pdf to the Desktop, then drag into the BoxCryptor still creates a corrupted file.

What works is:
- save the pdf to the Desktop
- open the file in Preview, close Preview
- then drag the file into the BoxCryptor folder.

I also tried a PNG file, and that file did not suffer from the corruption issue...

Hi Victorinsh,

This seems to a known problem with BoxCryptor in Mountain Lion. The files are not really corrupted and actually encrypted correctly. An extended attribute causes this error message. You can find more information and also a solution in our knowledge base:

I verified I could open the "damaged" pdf files on the iPad.
