Boxcryptor 1.4 (Win7, x64) does not allow Indexing?

Windows indexing has stopped working for me after upgrading from 1.3 to 1.4.

Version 1.4 (v1.4.203.2187 to be exact, running on Win7 x64, all updates applied) does not allow me to put a checkbox next to the mapped drive in the "Control-Panel->Indexing Options->Modify" dialog. When I single-click on the checkbox next to the encrypted drive, nothing happens. If I double-click it "opens up" the drive (same as if clicking the small arrow). All subfolders are equally "un-checkable".

Uninstalling and reinstalling does not change things. I also tried using "Show all locations" (i.e., admin rights), all to no avail.

I noticed this problem first on my laptop. As my desktop machine was still running 1.3 I tried the same there and was able to select and unselect all encrypted drives. After updating my desktop to 1.4 (i.e., same version as referenced above), the same problem occurs.

Let me know if you need additional information (I tried running boxcryptor with the "/debug" flag but the logfile doesn't really seem to contain any particularly relevant information/errors/warnings)...

Hi,

Before v1.4 the BoxCryptor Drive was always mounted for all users and every user on the computer could access the BoxCryptor Drive. This was especially on multi-user computers a problem and a potential security risk. User A ran BoxCryptor, User B logged in and could access User A's files in the BoxCryptor Drive.

In v1.4 the BoxCryptor Drive is now mounted for the current user only by default. That means only User A who is running BoxCryptor, can access the BoxCryptor Drive. User B on the same computer cannot even see the BoxCryptor Drive anymore. You can change this behavior in the Advanced Options of the BoxCryptor Drive. We added an option "Mount for all users" so that all users on the computer can access the BoxCryptor Drive again.

Windows Search does not work with BoxCryptor v1.4 by default anymore because of this change. The indexing is not performed by the current user but rather by the System user who cannot access the BoxCryptor Drive anymore.

Solution: Windows Search will work again when you mount the BoxCryptor Drive for all users (see above).

Works!! Took me a while to find the "Advanced Options" (was looking into "Settings", not "Right-Click->Edit")...

Hi, is it possible to add System user permissions without mounting the drive for all users? I'd like to have both - indexing and user-specific mounting...

Thanks! This was a huge help. I also removed indexing for the boxcrypt folder because files cannot be opened this way. When I did a search it would find these files. I couldn't open or attach them to emails. When I switched to indexing for Y drive only it works great!
