Does BoxCryptor work with Cubby? I have problems for implementation!!

Hello,

Is anyone using BoxCryptor with Cubby? I have tried to implement it but I am having some issues. When I create the Boxcryptor file on my first computer, everything works fine. However when I install it on a second device and try to add the BoxCryptor folder I receive a message that the selected folder isn't valid and that it may be due to the fact the folder is synchronising. I have turned off synchronising but the problem still persists. I can add a new folder, but not select the one created on the other computer.

Through the Cubby access I can see and enter into the Boxcriptor folder...

I have bought the boxcryptor professional license and now I am afraid to have wasted my money...

Any suggestions?

Hi,

The problem is that BoxCryptor uses a configuration file called .encfs6.xml which is located in the root of your BoxCryptor Folder (e.g. BoxCryptor.bc\.encfs6.xml). However, Cubby does not sync hidden files (files beginning with a dot are hidden files on Unix systems) according to this thread:

This causes the .encfs6.xml file to be missing on your second computer and thus BoxCryptor cannot open the folder. In order to circumvent this problem, simply rename the ".encfs6.xml" file to "Keyfile.bcx". As a fallback mechanism BoxCryptor looks for "Keyfile.bcx" if a ".encfs6.xml" file could not be found.

Just a question, Robert.

I am using BoxCryptor with Cubby following your method and it works well.

But is there a small possibility that encfs creates an encrypted file/directory name starting with a "." ?

That would mean that it would not be syncronised with cubby !

I have tried what you described and it's working perfectly well thanks.
But I have now another small issue, perhaps you can help here too.
We have purchased a second license for another employee. We have installed Boxcrypt succesfully, she can enter and see the folders, but due to an unknown reason she hasn't the quick launch icon available on her windows toolbar. The fact is that (at least per my knowledge) this icon is the only way to access the configuration section, to put in our license number or access to advanced features.
We have tried to right click the normal program icon, but there isn't any access to the configuraton section and also I didn't see any option to tick the installation of the quick launch icon during the set up proces.
Is there any other way to access to the configuration section (e.g. opening a certain file, etc.) or to make the quick launch icon show up?

Could you please also answer to my previous question which seemed to have been overlooked?

I am under windows and after installing BoxCryptor the "quick launch icon" of Boxcryptor doesn't show up when I click on the toolbar arrow. This prevents me to be able to display the settings menu and from getting acces to advance features or introduce my license code. Is there any way to lauch this by other means?

I have just uploaded a new version of BoxCryptor (v1.5.406.139) for Windows with some (very) minor changes (I will update the changelog asap). We've added the command line switch /preferences which opens the preferences window directly after BoxCryptor has started. This allows you to modify the BoxCryptor preferences (and enter the serial number) even if you cannot access the context menu because the icon is not showing in the system tray.

1) Download here: https://www.boxcryptor.com/download/BoxCryptor_Setup.exe
2) Install BoxCryptor
3) Start BoxCryptor by running "boxcryptor.exe /preferences" (Start -> Run)
4) Change the preferences
