Boxcryptor 2.0 file paths

Just upgraded to 2.0 and I'm not able to get the file path on the mounted drive to match what it was in the old version. For example. S:\Folder1\document.docx is now S:\Dropbox\Folder1\document.docx How can I get the file path to be the same as it was previously without the Dropbox folder first?

Hello posko,

The first folder level always shows the locations configured in the Boxcryptor Settings. By default we auto-detect your cloud storage folders and show them in the locations list.

As it is not possible to add a subfolder of an existing location, you cannot add Folder1 as a location directly - but indirectly by using a Junction. Simply create a junction to Folder1 which is located in a different folder then your Dropbox folder (e.g. Documents\Folder1) by executing the following command:

> mklink /J Documents\Folder1 Dropbox\Folder1

You can then add Documents\Folder1 as a new location in the Boxcryptor Settings and will then have the path S:\Folder1\document.docx again.

Hm, that doesn't work. My system (Win 7 Pro) said, that local NTFS-Volumes are required. The Box-Cryptor Drive but is mounted as FAT32. Is there an option to mount it as NTFS?

Sorry, I forgot to mention, that the Junction has to be created on the "real" file system - not in the Boxcryptor Drive.

Example:
> mklink /J C:\Users\Robert\Documents\Folder1 C:\Users\Robert\Dropbox\Folder1

You can then add C:\Users\Robert\Documents\Folder1 as a new location in the Boxcryptor Settings.

But that's not that, what posko want. In this case the path also change. Then he can also change everthing to the new one. It's only interessting if you can make symlinks directly to the boxed folder

1. programs doesn't see the new structure
2. I can move data between different cloud spaces without chaning the path (like DFS)

My "workaround" works for all folders in the old 1.x drive except the "root". So you can't use it if you want to keep paths like:

S:\File.txt
S:\Document.docx

But you can use it if you want to keep paths like:

S:\Folder1\File.txt
S:\Folder1\Document.docx

Complete chain example:
C:\Users\Robert\Dropbox\Folder1
-> Junction ->
C:\Users\Robert\Documents\Folder1
-> Add as location in Boxcryptor ->
S:\Folder1

As I understood psoko, he wanted a way to get paths within Dropbox without the Dropbox as first folder. (S:\Folder1 instead of S:\Dropbox\Folder1)

Of course, it's not perfect (you always need 1 subfolder for the location in the virtual drive) but it's a start. We won't be able to support symlinks in the Boxcryptor drive anytime soon due to technical reasons.
