BoxCryptor Classic on a Mac - Updates

I'll try to be clear :) Sometime yesterday I was alerted to Version1.3 being available, this was on a MacBook running Lion latest.
This morning, on a Mac running Mountain Lion latest and on trying to mount a volume I see a message that the file is not available On checking in SkyDrive I see that the extension has been changed to .bcc

Just done a check from the ML Mac and it's showing as 1.2.3 being the latest version. However if I go to the Boxcryptor site I can download v 1.3

Has this new version changed the extensions to .bcc ? I just changed them all back to .bc in order to access the volumes.

OK have now installed 1.3 on the other iMacs and yep extension is .bcc on the file. Bit of a frustrating day. I'm willing to accept I've missed some documentation on this. Maybe someone could point me to it?

Hi Catcher,

as we've developed Boxcryptor 2.0, we decided to use .bc extension for the new version of our app and to switch to .bcc for Classic versions (1.x). This change is required mostly to have Boxcryptor for Mac working without any problems.

We also thought to make the transition less bothering to the user, so we thought it would be cool to do it automatically. But we've got some complaints about this and also our Mac version of Boxcryptor 2.0 is not yet ready, so we decided to rollback this change and maybe to come out with a better solution when Boxcryptor 2.0 for Mac is ready.

We will post this update, v.1.3.2 later today, and it's not going to be available through the auto-updates, just through direct download from our web-site.

Speaking of auto-updates, when you get a notification that a new version is available, you also can view the Release Notes, which always contains useful info about whats new/changes/etc.. I guess you skipped them this time, thats why you did not new about the renaming to .bcc.

OK the confusion was that auto-update was showing on a Macbook running Lion but not on two Macs running Mountian Lion. I can't remember the timescale between checking the ML ones. Anyway as I said I sorted it.

Looking forward to the new Mac version. Annoyingly I had a quick look at the Windows version and now my license is counting down /sigh

Link to the download v1.3 doesn't work.
"There is no file with the filename: Boxcryptor_v1.3_Installer.dmg in our system! Please check your link and try again!"

yes, we removed it for now. Version 1.3.1 will be available today.

After upgrading from 1.2.3 to 1.3.1 new Boxcryptor volumes became .bcc, but existing .bc volumes are not renamed. Is this correct or did I miss something...? Should I rename the .bc volumes manually in .bcc volumes?

Hi Dede,

actually we decided to keep the .bc extension for now, at least until Boxcryptor 2.0 for OS X is released. Thats why we posted a new update today, ver. 1.3.2.

You don't need to rename .bc to .bcc or the opposite, Boxcryptor will handle both extensions.
