SPOTLIGHT OPTION IS GREYED OUT ON IOX MAVERICKS

In preferences, Advanced, Volume : the option "enable spotlight" is no available. I would really like to search my files within the encrypted dropbox.

I have read the post on how to do this but I have had no luck!

Any ideas?

Hi Nick,

The option to enable Spotlight is currently not available because it is still under development and does not yet work. It will be implemented in one of the upcoming versions (no ETA on this yet).

Unfortunately the Spotlight option is still greyed out in Boxcryptor 2.0.411 and OSXFuse 2.6.2 under Mavericks. The use of Spotlight is essential within the OS X environment. I cannot use Yep with my boxcryptor encrypted PDFs now, or simply the search for Mavericks tags

When will this be fixed?

This is really a big showstopper for me!

I've signed a one year account yesterday and unfortunately realized too late that Spotlight isn't supported by Boxcryptor :-(
I need this very urgent - I'm using tag and content search on a daily basis...

Sorry but we don't have any news on this. I know it's very frustrating, but Spotlight is a very complex issue under the hood and we currently do not have enough resources for it.

I agree - there are too many unfixed issues to continue to use it, unfortunately...

Hello - I wondered if the spotlight feature has now been fixed? The option is greyed out in 2.0.411 (566). I read "If the BoxCryptor Folder is already present, remove it first. Be sure that you know its password!" - How do you do this? If I carry out this step is spotlight now supported?

After the new releases for Windows, we finally managed to address Spotlight support and we're currently working on it. We're not communicating release dates, but I expect that we'll have a version with "real" Spotlight support ready within July.

I hope you can release the Mac version with Spotlight within July, because having a Mac version without being able to search documents is useless. People using Mac rely on Spotlight for everything.

Yes, we will also add Spotlight support for Boxcryptor Classic. We're in the final stages and if everything goes well, beta versions for Boxcryptor and Boxcryptor Classic could be ready by the end of this week. (But it might also take until next week.)

PS: It is a known issue that enabling Spotlight might fail sometimes due to internal Spotlight problems which we can't control. (Spotlight returns an error when trying to enable it.) Rebooting the Mac can help in this case.

Are "Boxcryptor Classic" for Android and Windows compatible with the new "Box Cryptor Classic for Mac OS X v1.4" Beta?

I am asking this because the description for "Boxcryptor Classic for Mac OS X v1.4" Beta says:

"Replaced OSXFUSE with our own implementation BCFS. OSXFUSE is not required to run Boxcryptor anymore. BCFS will automatically be installed on the first start of Boxcryptor."

If not, will there be new versions of "Boxcryptor Classic" for Android and Windows, which are compatible with "Box Cryptor Classic for Mac OS X v1.4"?

All Boxcryptor Classic applications are still compatible with the new v1.4 beta of BC Classic for Mac OS X. There are no changes in the encrypted file format.
