• Boxcryptor 2 and Encfs on Linux

Hello,

I have been experimenting with boxcryptor and dropbox. I created a new encrypted folder in Dropbox, and dropped a couple of files into it. This then sync'd to my Linux machine. I was expected then to be able to open the directory using encfs in linux. I used the following command.

encfs ~/Dropbox/Testing ~/Temp_Decrypted

encfs loads as if I was creating a new encfs filesystem and doesn't ask for a password etc. I suspect I have something wrong.

Using the free Boxcryptor.

Cheers,
Phil

doesnt work, boxcrpytor 2 is not compatible with encfs and as such no option when you want to use encrypted files share with a linux installation.

you need to use either boxryptor classic or encfs4win.

    ------

and why is not one single person at boxcryptor able to answer this simple question within more than a week?

      a month later

      Their blog suggests otherwise:

      https://boxcryptor.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/573769-is-boxcryptor-available-for-linux-

but I suppose that just means they are referring to what is now known as Boxcryptor Classic (1.x).

Not realizing that, I installed encfs on my OpenSuSE system and mounted my Dropbox folder using it. Unfortunately, all I see is an empty directory. I guess I'm stuck, right? There is no way to view Boxcryptor (2.x)-encrypted files on Linux?
