IOS Cannot Login To Local Account

I have been using Boxcryptor 2.0 for over a year. I have been using Boxcryptor 2.0 on my IOS devices without issue.

I recently upgraded to IOS 8 and the app would not start. I deleted and reinstalled the app. The app now opens. However, when I try to login I cannot. I can access the local login screen but it will not let me add in the local email address - I cannot put anything in the email box.

I can put in a password, but the real problem is that I cannot access the key file. I went into dropbox in the IOS and I sent the keyfile to boxcryptor but it would not access the keyfile. I try and open the keyfile and access dropbox, but nothing happens. Can some please help?

I can't access any of my files on iOS. This is quite a major problem.

"Open in" did not work for me neither from Google Drive. Here a workaround:

Send the keyfile by email to an account configured on your iphone or ipad. Open the mail attached keyfile, it will open in Boxcryptor and you will be able to configure it as your local keyfile. Worked fine for me, iphone 4 + IOS 7.1xx

For IOS 8 Open in... Works only when Boxcryptor is first item in the list where all Open in... Options are shown. In the options, simply put Boxcryptor in first position and it will work.

Thank you @tispoon for providing a workaround.

Why isn't anyone from the boxcryptor team helping out here? I'm losing trust in boxcryptor as a viable solution to keeping my data secret and safe. If it's secret but I can't access it, what's the point? I lost access to my data on iOS for about a month here. If the team don't even *respond* to problems like this, let alone solve them, how do I know I won't lose access to *all* my data in the future? What if there was a problem that hit both iOS and Windows at the same time? Bang, no more encrypted data.

This I suppose is an inavoidable problem with proprietary encryption.

Update: this works for iPhone. However, on my iPad Air, I can't even open Boxcryptor. It shuts as soon as I open it.

Update #2: after uninstalling and resinstalling boxcryptor on my iPad, the app now opens. However @tispoon's workaround doesn't work.

Same issue here. Opening the keyfile by "Copy to Boxcryptor" leads me to the Sign In screen instead of Boxcryptor Local. Of course "local@boxcryptor.com" is not recognized as a valid user.
There is no way anymore to add the local keyfile and a provider.

Boxcryptor still works for me under Windows 7 and 10. Have used it for three years, but out of luck now.

similar issue. trying to luse local account on iphone(ios 10) and cannot import key. I have an error message: "you are currently signed in. Please sign out and try again". of course I am not signed in. i use only local accounts.

The issue itself has been fixed and will be available within the upcoming Boxcryptor version.
Until then we would like to invite you to our beta program (TestFlight) so you will be able to use your local account again on your iOS device.
