Disclaimer: I'm quite ignorant in the subject, so I appologize beforehand :)
I was using Boxcryptor on my PC as a, what I believe it's called, Local Account.
Yesterday I decided to format my hard-drive (oh oh!!). I kept my boxcryptor files on an externar hard drive though, so I thought they were safe.
Now comes the problem: Now that I formatted my hard-drive I can't see those encrypted files on my external hd. My assumption: because I need to install boxcryptor. I did, but here's when everything got interesting. I select the LOCAL ACCOUNT option, but it's asking me to locate my key. I can't recall saving any key at any time, only a boxcryptor-backup file (which has an XML extension). But this doesn't seem to be the key. I do have the password that I was using to access my local boxcryptor "drive".
So, to summarize:
I have a boxcryptor-backup.xml file
I have my password
My encrypted files were stored on my external hard drive
Is there any way to access those file?
Any help will be appreciate it!
Thank you very much in advance :)
