Using Boxcryptor with an FTP site

I want to use Boxcryptor to back up files to my personal website,which is only available via FTP. I've tried three different FTP-to-mapped-drive utilities (FTPUse, FTPDrive and NetDrive), and none of them work with Boxcryptor. I get different odd error messages when trying to transfer files using any of them.

Has anyone successfully gotten this to work? I've still got Webdrive and ExpanDrive yet to test, but thought I'd check in here first, as I'm not optimistic either of them will work any better.

The problem is that most of those FTP-to-mapped-drive utilities use virtual drives just as Boxcryptor does. That means, the "source" for the files in Boxcryptor reside in a virtual drive and this can cause problems - especially if the virtual filesystem implementation is not 100% correct. Thus, we do not officially support the use with such programs.

Can you access the FTP site using the WebDAV protocol? Alternatively you might want to try a sync tool which can sync a local folder with your FTP site. Then you could add a local folder as location in Boxcryptor and simply sync its contents.
