Logging out of local account erases data

Why does this happen? I download the key file and choose local account. I go into the settings and verify that the account is indeed local. If I sign out, the account is blown away and boxcryptor acts like it was never set up. Any downloaded files are lost.

It's also crashing frequently. Trying to upload any file to iCloud crashes. I hate to hammer on anyone but I QA software for a living. This isn't even close to being ready. It's like alpha .001.

I failed to add that is was for iOS 8.3

Hello Johnny,

This is expected behavior. If you click/tab on sign out, you are actually signed out of your local account and Boxcryptor removes all settings. If you want to keep your settings you should not sign out of your account.

After updating to windows 10 I updated my boxcryptor to the latest version to make it work with windows 10, and since I have always clicked "sign out" without any troubles I was careless and did it even thou I got a warning that my settings would be erased.

When I now try to use existing key and open my folder-key "FolderKey.bch" I get an error-message so this is obviously not the right way of open my local storage.

How do I log back into my local storage? I have tried supplying the email I think was used, local@boxcryptor.com, even thou I am not completely sure this is the correct address, and my password.

And what is the correct way of signing out of my local account without losing my settings? Exit?

Hi gunnar,

When opening Boxcryptor you will find three little dots in the lower right corner. There you will find local Account setting. On the next page, instead of creating a new keyfile, click "open keyfile" and select your the desired file.

Signing out will again delete all your settings so I would recomment to simply "Exit" Boxcryptor instead of signing out.

Eventually I found my keyfile, I had forgotten that I had such a file and where it was placed, thats why I thought FolderKey.bch was the keyfile I was supposed to open!
