Hi there. I was testing out Boxcryptor Classic and everything seemed to be going well. I set it up per the instructions and was able to mount the encrypted directory just fine and read and write files without a problem.
That is, up until a couple of days ago. When I tried accessing the decrypted, mounted Boxcryptor drive, all I got was error messages. The password was typed in correctly - I checked by typing in the wrong password and of course got an error message - so it's not that.
I was wondering if for some reason Boxcryptor was simply no longer decrypting the files. That does not seem to be the case - when I open a plaintext file in the encrypted directory, it is different than what I see in the decrypted equivalent. This is an example of the first line of a text file:
Encrypted: $…ø‚¯.õN¡’·f}*XMƒüD_ÖQ¿Âá=˜í†=Ó(8ÀÝ1å*3/%Uú\Jxc¡øʸ:>®Ôè¦ ¥$=<:VIJ¤í>Õu+ÿÖŠ¶&;hðBò¯„
Decrypted: ã£D¸¸G !HVÊj²È4p¬vŽE´G@·y—ýì[{Ìp?îûÏ–—Ï
This seems to be the case with every single file I've tried to open.
I haven't changed any of the settings, either in Boxcryptor itself or for the particular directory in question.
When I tried to store a new file to the decrypted volume, everything seems fine. I can open the file there after unmounting and mounting, and in the encrypted directory I can't (which is of course as expected).
The only thing I can think of that has recently changed is that I needed to clean out my AppData folder. I didn't see any folders that related to Boxcryptor. Might that be the cause?
Anyway, not even sure where to begin to try to diagnose the problem - any thoughts would be most appreciated.
