I also have a problem with the newest version on Linux version 2.20.209
It was working okay for 2 days but today is day 3 and it hangs when I try to launch it. The window turns grey and after a few seconds I get error "Boxcrypt is not responding..... Wait or Force Quit
I tried erasing the folder and re-downloading it. But error persists. Then I downloaded the older version 2.18.196 and that one works just fine. I downloaded it from this link:

I am using Ubuntu-Gnome-3 16.04
I have Hubic set up as my provider. Everything was working fine and I had transferred about 50% of my folder. Then I had to reboot
Now that I rebooted and trying to launch the portable at sh Boxcryptor_Portable.sh
And the window just stays grey anf after about 30 seconds it says
"Boxcryptor" is not responding....
I dont know what else to do other than rebooting a few times. Also after I reboot I made sure nothing else is running, not even a browser
I saw this in the Terminal Window:

I also tried to erase the folder and download again Boxcryptor_Portable_Linux64_2.20.209.0
And then when I tried to run the script on the brand new it also had same problem. Window turns grey (blank) and then error message that "Boxcryptor” is not responding.
You may choose to wait a short while for it to continue or force the application to quit entirely.
So now it is hanging no matter what I do and I have rebooted 6 times, nothing else is running in the background
