How To Log Out Of Boxcryptor?

I suspect I'm missing something obvious, but is there a way to, in effect, log out of Boxcryptor so that the Boxcryptor protected files will not be accessible until logging back in? Most of the files I have protected in Boxcryptor do not need to be frequently accessed and I'm not comfortable having them accessible when I'm away from my PC (Windows 10).

Hello WNeutc,

you can log off via the "Sign off" button in Boxcryptor.

Another idea is the use the "AppProtection" feature and set the option to ask for password/ PIN/ Touch-ID (if supported).
Locking your PC via other methods is also possible.

Hello, I am also having this problem and do not see a "Sign Off" button anywhere. I've looked everywhere within the app, but all it does when I click on the icon is open the encrypted folder. I've tried right-clicking and nowhere is that an option. Is the issue that I'm using the free version of BoxCryptor?

no, that has nothing to do with the FREE version.
You should have 6 options when right-clicking on the systray icon.

Please install the latest version available (2.24.747) and see if the issue persists.

Good afternoon! Please indicate where to exit the program. Version of 2.24.747.0 free. I am forced to reboot my computer to close the folder under the password. Windows 10. And this is extremely uncomfortable! Thank you!

right-click on the Boxcryptor icon in the Windows systray.
You have there an option named "Exit".

Hi - these instructions are not working on my devices. "Exit" removes the icon from the systray so it looks like I'm logged out, but I can still open encrypted files through windows File Manager.

I have to use "Sign Out" to properly log out.

What purpose does "Exit" serve? Why is there no timed logout?

Even after I have signed out, my encrypted files are available. Is this expected?

no, it's not expected to work this way. If you quit the App or sign-off you won't be able to access the encrypted files.
