Hello Mankindof, hello mrauthq,
I would like to explain what happens here:
When you encrypt a folder via the right-click context menu, this is what happens in simplified terms:
1. An encrypted folder of folder A will be created (A_encrypted).
2. Now each folder and each file will be copied and encrypted on the fly.
3. As soon as every file/folder has been encrypted successfully, all files and folder A will be deleted (each file one by one).
The suffix "_encrypted" is added to avoid syncing errors.
This is stated within the notification displayed when the encryption has been successful.
You can rename the folder as you like, after your cloud provider finished syncing all the data.
If there are programs that access the files within the targeted folder during this process, there are two errors possible:
1. Error while encrypting data.
It results in:
Folder A still contains all original, unencrypted files.
Folder A_encrypted is not complete and files are missing.
The solution:
Delete folder A_encrypted and start over.
2. Error during the deletion of folder A.
It results in:
Folder A is missing some files.
Folder A_encrypted contains all encrypted files.
Solution:
Delete folder A.
Best regards,
Yasmin
