I am attempting to log in to the Boxcryptor Google Chrome extension and I receive an "Internal Server Error" which prevents me from logging in. I have removed it from Chrome and reinstalled from the Chrome Store and I still get the same issue.
"Internal Server Error" with Chrome Extension
Same issue.
I am receiving an "Internal Server Error" whenever I try and log into the extension.
Using Chrome Version 66.0.3359.139 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Windows 10 Pro version 1803
Any help appreciated.
I have been experiencing this for the last few days also. When I try and login to Boxcryptor's Google Chrome extension I receive an "Internal Server Error" which prevents me from logging in.
Can't understand what has precipitated this inability to login to view encrypted files in cloud storage providers. This is quite the inconvenience for me.
I am using these platforms with the same issue and error message occurring:
- Apple Mac El Capitan 10.11.6 with Google Chrome Version 66.0.3359.139 (Official Build) (64-bit)
- Windows 7 Pro 64 bit with Google Chrome Version 66.0.3359.139 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Any ideas, Boxcryptor?
I cleared the cookie and cache in the browser today. The problem is persisting.
Hello together,
It is currently not possible to sign in to Boxcryptor for Chrome due to Google's distrust of Symantec certificates. For communicating with our API we're using a certificate from Thawte (subsidiary of Symantec) which the new Chrome version 66 released in April does not trust anymore and thus a connection to our servers cannot be established. Only the Chrome plugin is affected, because only Chrome does not trust this certificate anymore - all our other clients are not affected by Google's decision.
We're currently in the process of replacing the certificate and will switch over to the new certificate in the next few days. After this switch, the Chrome plugin will continue to work again.
You can read more about Google distrusting Symantec here: https://security.googleblog.com/2018/03/distrust-of-symantec-pki-immediate.html
Best regards,
Robert
Hi everybody,
we have completed the certificate replacement and the Chrome plugin should work as expected again.
Best regards,
Robert
I still cannot login. Now I get this error: "This client is invalid or outdated. Please upgrade to the latest version." I uninstalled, then re-installed. Any other thing(s) to try???
Hello tboydva,
you get this message when you're trying to use the extension with 2 factor authentication - which isn't yet supported there. We are currently working on a solution for this.
Best regards,
Christian
Christian - I'm sure you can't comment on upcoming features... But just in case, are you still working on this? Any time horizon?
Hi tboydva,
unfortunately, we can not name any date on this.
Did you try out Boxcryptor Portable already?
This might be a working alternative for your matters.
You may find further information as well as the download here:
