The Windows version of EncFS fulfills a specific need for me: it can encrypt a whole collection of files on a granular basis which makes it compatible with cloud storage options.
Thanks to Wikipedia, I've found EncFS 1.7 to be vulnerable to some simple attacks and version 1.8 to still has security concerns. But it is on version 1.9.5 today.
Is it safe enough to use, when its competitors are either closed source or rather slow?
