Support for 'Other' Cloud Providers - (Reply to pCloud Post)

Hi,

Question for Yasmin, rather that the original poster, (below) .. so how do you determine which Cloud Providers to put on your 'list' and what is the criteria .. Can us Boxcryptor users help by notifying our 'other non supported as yet' Cloud Providers.

Personally I try to stay away from American based providers and I use JottaCloud (Scandinavian Neutral Based), or so I am led to believe, but not supported by BoxCryptor yet ..

Hello flanco,

right now we have no official support for PCloud.

However, Boxcryptor works with almost every cloud provider.
As long as you have a folder which gets synchronized you can easily add this folder as a Boxcryptor Location.
Please have a look at this tutorial:

On mobile the situation is a little bit different, because we have to implement every provider by ourselves.
However, if PCloud supports webDAV, you can easily add it with our mobile apps.
As far as we know, PCloud started to support WebDAV.

You should be able to connect with these settings:
Link: https://webdav.pcloud.com
Port: 443
Username: {Your user name}
Password: {Your password}

I am sure that the PCloud support will be glad to help in case you have trouble connecting via webDAV.

PCloud is on our list of cloud providers which should be included, but I can neither say if nor when official support will be available.

Thanks for the reply. What about an addon for google chrome that would open the encrypted files directly on my pcloud account. Danke.

Boxcryptor solely works with local available data.
The synchronization is done by your cloud provider of choice.

Whether Boxcryptor supports a cloud service or not merely determines if said cloud provider will be automatically detected on desktop systems.
Thus, you may actually use any cloud provider with Boxcryptor but "unsupported" cloud providers need to use synchronization and need to support WebDAV in case you need to access your encrypted files on a mobile device.

I hope I made this clear by now.

-> As I already said: 'Boxcryptor solely works with locally available files.'
Thus, there will never be a plugin that enables you to open an encrypted file within your Browser using the pCloud web page.
The file will always be downloaded first, then decrypted and saved to your download folder.
-> This is not what you are looking for.
