Can Boxcryptor Be Used This Way?

Right now I'm not storing files in the cloud. What I'm wondering is if Boxcryptor can be used to encrypt files in a local folder. If I install Boxcryptor and the virtual drive is created, can I copy (move) files/folders to that local Boxcryptor drive and have them be encrypted. Looking for a simple way of having an encrypted set of folders within the Boxcryptor virtual drive simply for local file encryption. Loading up to either Dropbox or Google Drive would possibly come at a later time.

There are a number of encryption programs I have tried but it seems (at least to me) that Boxcryptor may provide a simple local solution with cloud storage to follow if needed.

Boxcryptor doesn't really work consistently enough across devices and services to use in this way. For example, you can encrypt local storage on android phones, but not on iOS devices, despite Apple exposing the file system.

Also, what cloud services exist have to have an https implementation consistent with whatever evolving standard Boxcryptor decides upon. It really isn't useful in this sense.

I have not identified a way to solve what you are trying to solve. It seems file storage in the clear is what everyone accepts as correct.
