Dear Boxcryptor Team,
thanks again fro trying to help people here in the community.
However, after I spend quite a bit time testing how Boxcryptor works, I found that this is not for me for several reasons we talked about already in the last thread:
- File handling:
As I found boxcyptor is only for people with a very special File handling.
Small Files are OK as long as there are never more then 5 or 10 to be handled at on time. Whoever wants to handle more, will get serious issues with a very slow performance of Boxcryptor.
Medium file sizes work barely acceptable. But here also never more then 5 or 10 files at a time.
With Big Files the system goes into extremes. I Tried to encryp a 1.6 GB Movie file under Win10. I let it run over night and gave up after 16 hours. It actually seems as if the Windows explorer is freezed. But its not. Boxcryptor is simply writing the data very very slow. Too slow in my opinion.
- Documentation:
We found already that your documentation for the Android app is (a little??) outdated. During my test I also found a few hickups in the Documentation for the windows app. So basically your documentation is poor. And even with your help it was not possible to get boxcryptor to write cell phone pictures in an encypted Boxcryptor folder on the cloud. It would be easy to do if the app would work like the documentation sais. But unfortunately it doesn't. One cannot freely choose into which folder the Pictures shall be copied.
I really admire your hard work and Im pretty sure that with another one or two years of development this can become a very good and helpful software. But for now the very narrow process window in which this works acceptable, is not within my user profile. So I'll stop this trial for now.
I'm just mentioning it here once more so you might have a hint wher to look for in your development and so that other users have some information to decide up front how far it is worth to give boxcryptor a trial.
So it comes down to my User Name:
