SCENARIO
Using Boxcryptor on Samsung Galaxy s9 with Android Version 9 (Pie).
Settings: Turned on “Enable Camera Upload”. Uploading to OneDrive account. Using WIFI only.
Boxcryptor created an encrypted folder on the OneDrive including filename encryption.
The phone is connected to WIFI intermittently sometimes every few hours sometimes every few days.
ISSUE(S)
A large portion of the photos are uploading ok. However two issues are occurring intermittently and what would appear randomly:
- Some of the Camera pictures are not uploaded to the OneDrive at all
- Some of the Camera pictures are uploaded to the OneDrive but are corrupted and cannot be opened. Tried a number of JPG viewers to open the JPGs all failed, Windows Viewer gave the message “Windows Photo Viewer cannot open this picture because the file appears to be damaged, corrupted or is too large.”. In addition when these jpg files are synced to my Windows 7 desktop via OneDrive and are in the Boxcryptor (X🙂 drive they cannot be deleted. However the ‘encrypted’ and corrupted file can be deleted directly from the OneDrive online using a browser logon.
Viewing the ‘Activities’ section on Boxcryptor on the Galaxy s9 there are a number of jpg files with the status of “Upload failed”. The file names of the pictures that are not uploaded or are corrupted as per 1 and 2 above are amongst them. So it would appear Boxcryptor is identifying a problem with the upload but not managing it.
The outcome is that the Camera Upload function on Android is not consistent and therefore entirely unreliable.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any solutions?
