what backup software will work to back up my Boxcryptor X: drive on OneDrive

I've tried a couple of different packages (iDrive, Backblaze) on my Windows 10 v1909 desktop and nothing seems to be able to read the files on the X: drive to back them up. At least not out of the box. Is there some other package that can do this? I don't trust OneDrive to be up all the time and not lose my files, so I want a secondary backup mechanism that I can set and forget.

Hi,

many backup solutions can not see the Boxcryptor Drive with the Boxcryptor default settings. If you increase the visibility of the drive it will be visible for those apps and to all users on the PC.

When you switch the active Windows user while Boxcryptor is running the drive will still be visible.
If someone else has access to your PC you should always close Boxcryptor when you are not at your PC.

Thank you, that helps. However, my backup software is reading the UN-encrypted files and backing them up to the cloud. I would prefer to back up the encrypted files. That is the whole point of Boxcryptor.

It is true that my cloud backup is itself encrypted, and I suppose you might assert that double encryption is overkill, but I am wondering if you might have another suggestion here?

Hi,

the XL drive allows you to access the encrypted data as if it was not encrypted so you can still work with your files. The encrypted versions of the files are stored in the synchronized folders of your cloud provider.
You can locate the encrypted version of each file by performing a right click on the file in the Boxcryptor drive and choosing the option "Boxcryptor -> Show original in ...".
