Dear all,
this might sound like a real beginner question, but i'm definately stuck with this.
I would like to use OneDrive to backup all personal files from my pc and encrypt them via Boxcryptor. I tried two alternatives, none of them worked. Pls advise:
1) Setup automatic synchronistion of OneDrive
In the OneDrive settings, I chose two personal folders (documents and desktop) for automatic synchronisation. This moves these folders to my local OneDrive-folder and syncs them automatically.
Encrypted both folders. this gives me two new folders, documents_encrypted and desktop_encrypted. However, my unencrpyted files still remain in the original folder on OneDrive, so no protection at all.
YUCK!
2) Manual sync
Create a folder 'backup' in OneDrive and robocopy my personal folders documents and desktop to backup folder. Encrypt folder backup with boxcryptor. Interestingly this does not create a new folder backup_encrypted (opposed to 1), instead all files in folder backup are encrypted. So fas, so good. But now, all files/folder have an .bc ending. So if i robocopy again (with /MIR Option to do mirroring of my local folder), robocopy copies all files as it does not find any existing files. Finally, after copying, all .bc-files have disappeared. New files are ready for encryption (green check mark), but I cannot encrypt them. Selecting Boxcryptor->enrypt from the context menu does not do anything.
YUCK!
