I have protected my boxcryptor.com account with a Yubikey. Now when I log into the website, I am required to use the Yubikey; however, the windows app only asks for a PIN or a password (from my password manager). Can the Windows App follow the website security and require my Yubikey to decrypt and open?

Hi,

the key is only required (and supported) when you first log into your Boxcryptor account on a new system to retrieve the encryption key. Afterwards Boxcryptor will load the key stored on your system. You can log out of your Boxcryptor account if you do not want to store the key locally but this will reset Boxcryptor to the factory settings.

Thanks for the reply. Let me ask my question in a different way. Each time I boot my Windows machine, the Boxcryptor app loads. I have 2 options. 4 Digit Pin. Or the password for my account.

1) The password is an auto-generated 20+ password from my password manager. There's no way I could remember or enter that each time to open the Windows App.

2) That leaves the 4 digit pin. That's... 4 digits.

Since I have the Yubikey. I would like to be able to have the option of Password, 4 Digit Pin, or Yubikey. Then when the Windows App starts. I could force it to need that Yubikey to launch/start/open the windows app.

If we're being privacy-focused: I would like more than 4 digits standing in the way of my files and a bad guy (if my laptop is stolen). I'd much rather have the YubiKey be used to open the app.

Does this make sense? Should I submit a support ticket/feature enhancement?

-- My password, I'll never memorize, it's in a safe. The 4 digit pin.. seems a sad way to protect my files using the windows app, while I have the Yubikey protecting my Online Account.

The feature @rdm is requesting is the exact feature I created an account to request. I would also like a YubiKey (2FA) requirement when unlocking the Windows App (i.e. on start up).

Has this feature already been implemented and I just missed it?
If not, what is required to formally make this a feature request?
