I am assessing Boxcryptor for purchase. On my first serious use of Boxcryptor free version on a OneDrive account I encrypted a large folder with many sub-folders. Boxcryptor created a new folder with the encrypted files named as the original folder plus "_encrypted" but did not delete the original folder and data. The new encrypted folder then synced to OneDrive and my other devices where I now have encrypted and unencrypted versions of the same data.
I understand that I now have to delete the original unencrypted data manually (yes I did backup the folder locally before doing this) but my concern is for future use. If I purchase the software to encrypt other cloud services and this happens again, what will happen if data volume encrypted is very close to my cloud service allocation and I suddenly double the amount of data stored. Also what will happen if one of my devices does not have enough space to sync twice the amount of data?
Also what can I do to ensure that this doesn't happen again?
