Hello,
Hoping someone can help me.
I'm using Windows 10. For the last few months I've been using the paid version of BoxCryptor and had two locations added hosted on a Synology NAS located on my own network e.g.:
\192.168.99.4\Backup[ENCRPYED SHARE NAME 1]
\192.168.99.4\Backup[ENCRPYED SHARE NAME 2]
The "Encrypted Share Name" folders had filename encryption enabled and were encrypted so that any contents added below were also encrypted. I'd been happily using them both for the last couple of months, many computer restarts etc and taking files in and out of the shares.
Yesterday, clicking the BoxCryptor drive icon showed me an empty folder (where I would have expected to have seen the decrypted names of my two shares). I opened Boxcryptor settings, but my "locations" list was empty. I tried re-adding them, and got them to appear, but when I tried to copy files into them, I got a message (which unfortunately I didn't write down), which said something along the lines of:
"You can't copy encrypted files into the top-level of a boxcryptor location"
However, I was trying to copy a folder into folder several layers down in the boxcryptor location. I removed the locations from BoxCryptor settings feeling something was wrong and after a system restart today I have tried re-adding them.
I can browse the Synology drive OK and see the encrypted filenames of my locations. I can add them as Box Cryptor locations, but when I try and access them via the Box Cryptor drive letter in Explorer, I can see the (now decrypted) top-level folder names - but when I try and open one of them I get the following message:
X:\LocationName (192.168.4.99) is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you are connected to the internet, then try again. If the location still cannot be found, it might have been moved or deleted.
I am connected to the network, I can browse the network, I can add the location, BoxCryptor even shows the decrypted name for the Location, so this message seems inconsistent with my situation.
Would be very grateful for any advice.
Thanks!
