Hello. I have been using Boxcryptor on my Samsung Android tablet to encrypt certain files on Google Drive. As recommended in this forum last year, I edit the files using QuickEdit+. This has all been working very well until tonight.
I opened the file using QuickEdit+ Open (SAF). I edited the file and saved it using the regular Save option. I needed to make another change, so I opened up the file again using the same method. However, the file contents now looked corrupted (or like the contents were still encrypted). I tried looking at the file directly in the Boxcryptor app using the File Previewer and had the same result - the contents weren't in plain text and looked "corrupted"/encrypted. I tried opening the file up again in QuickEdit+ with the same results.
Luckily, I had a version saved elsewhere so I didn't lose any data. I updated Boxcryptor and QuickEdit+ (versions at most 1 yr old) and tried the whole thing again with a new copy of the file and everything worked OK thankfully.
Any idea what might have happened here? Was it just a weird glitch? Did I somehow do something wrong?
Also, if I hadn't had that extra copy of the file, is there any way to reclaim the original data if even Boxcryptor itself can't make sense of it?
Thanks for any thoughts!
