Hi everyone, we're having a large outage that concerns all our users on Windows:
We use Boxcryptor with a traditional File Share mounted as a drive.

  • Users can copy any file to/from X: (the Boxcryptor encrypted virtual drive),
  • Users can create/modify a .txt file for instance (double-click on the file -> change it -> save),
  • Users can open any Office file (let's say an Excel file) by double-clicking on the file on the X: drive,
  • but users can't save a file from any Office software (let's say on Excel -> file/save -> it's very, very slow, and at the end nothing is saved)

This is quite problematic because no one can edit any Excel file for instance. We tried with multiple versions of Office (we use the always-up-to-date Office 365, and we tried to roll-back to previous versions) and multiple versions of Boxcryptor for Windows (2.44.1485 and 2.43.1441) but without success.

Any idea on what we could do/the next things we could test?
We wrote to Support with the adequate logs - we don't have a resolution in sight yet, and our users are getting quite upset as they have tight deadlines this month.

Outside of that - we love the product, it's been running for years and protecting our sentistive files without requiring any attention from our side.
Thanks everyone.
Mike.

    Hi Mike,

I'm sorry for the issue you're experiencing. Can you tell me the number of your support ticket so that I can check it?

    Thanks,
    Robert

Hi Robert, I think you found it just after your message; it has been opened by one of my colleagues. Thank you for the unreleased version of Boxcryptor that we'll try on our machines; thanks very much! I'll report on it later.
      Mike.

We confirm that this patched version works on a subset of machines Robert, thank you very much for your help. We'll deploy it further and see if it works everywhere. I suppose you will release the update soon for everyone? Would you know the origin of the issue? Thanks!

          a month later

I have the same issue and it's affecting one of the main uses I have for this app. Can you please provide the fix? Thank you.

kzaoaai The issue mentioned by Mike has been resolved in the latest Boxcryptor for Windows version 2.45.1556 which you can download here:
            https://www.boxcryptor.com/download/Boxcryptor_v2.45.1556_Setup.msi

Please make sure that you are running the latest version. Should your problem still exist, it might have a different reason. In this case, please contact our support via support@boxcryptor.com and reference this community thread. Thanks!

            Best regards,
            Robert
