Files are gone

Hello. I am having a very serious problem on my Mac Book with OS 12.1. I am using version 2.43.1465 and have encrypted some of my personal files which I want to access now. But the files are either just 4KB big or 0byte and I can not open them anymore. Some word documents I can open but they are just plain empty. ?

I also can not just get the original folder back since it is nowhere in the deleted folders of Dropbox. It's just been 2 weeks but the original folder name without _encrypted can not be found. Where did Boxcryptor move the original folder? Does it just delete the original folder? What happened here?

I need quick help please!

Thanks for no help at all. Was testing Boxcryptor to be used in a university. As there was no support and the files had to be recovered using Dropbox Rewind as a last resort, I will not be going forward with using Boxcryptor ever again.

I'm sorry that you experienced problems trying Boxcryptor. There are currently no known issues matching your description. While Boxcryptor Free can be used for free, professional support is only available for our paid customers. We occasionally reply to posts in the Community, but not on a regular base. In case you are able to reproduce a bug, we're always thankful to learn about it via support@boxcryptor.com so that we can fix it as soon as possible - regardless if you're on the free or a paid plan.

When you encrypt an existing folder, Boxcryptor creates a new folder with the original name and an "_encrypted" suffix and copies the existing folder's content to the encrypted folder while encrypting it. If the process finished without errors, the existing folder is deleted. In any case, Dropbox offers options to restore deleted files and folders.
