Folder name change

I use two Windows 10 computers with BC installed. I was working in LibreOffice on a document from an encrypted folder named "DOCUMENTS" on one of my computers and then saved my work in BC. The next day I opened my other Windows computer to use LibreOffice and work on a different document but LibreOffice couldn't find it.

I found the folder "DOCUMENTS" was renamed to "DOCUMENTS(1)".

What is the purpose for this and can I simply change the folder name back to "DOCUMENTS"?

Hi!

Boxcryptor does not rename folders (or files) on itself. Most likely, the folder has been renamed by another application (e.g. the sync software of your storage provider) directly or in the Boxcryptor drive. Sync software sometimes automatically renames files or folders when a sync conflict occurs, e.g. the same file or folder has been modified at the same time by two different devices.

Anyways, you should be able to manually rename it back to "DOCUMENTS" without problems.

Thank you Robert. I did look a bit more into this through some helpful online articles about cloud services and conflicts that other people have encountered. I recently realized the need for end to end encryption which my cloud service does not supply. Boxcryptor is a godsend for users as myself who work off a laptop and desktop. I appreciate your taking the time to respond to my query.

Now if BC could crack into the ChromeOS world... 😀

This whole cloud thing and encryption stuff is new to me.
