OK, I am pretty tech-savvy, but I am not sure what this application does. I know what I want it to do which is stop Onedrive and Google from sifting through my hard drive for data they can sell, reading my personal documents, and the rest.
I have installed Boxencrptor free, and have associated the account with my Onedrive account. I now have 2 drives on my Windows 10 PC, (as well as a Google ), one which is my local drive and the other which is Boxencrytor. They are both the same size and they both have the same amount of used data, so I assume they are mirroring each other in some way. 200 gig of data on each so I am not sure where that is! Is it on my Onedrive account in an encrypted form? If so do I now have my Onedrive files in the cloud, which MS snoop, and another folder with the same data encrypted by Boxencryptor?
When I look at my total Onedrive consumption it is 175 gig of 1021 gig. So it cannot be replicated. If it were it would be twice the size.
Now I am aware that I can left-click any folder in Boxencryptor, and encrypt, but how does this help if the original is still unencrypted on Onedrive for MS to continue snooping?
So I think my general question is this. How is Boxencrypted intended to be used to stop MS and Google from reading my personal files? And if I can encrypt everything, what are the chances that a day will come, (Boxencryptor goes belly up) that I will lose all my data?
