Recently Boxcryptor started prompting me to log in after I reboot my laptop (Windows 7). I’m also having problems with programs freezing when trying to do file operations (save, in particular). CHKDSK reports a few cases of attribute record 128 corrupt.
Now, I can’t get what I thought was my password to work with Boxcryptor. I’m uncertain if I don’t remember it correctly or if the BC config could have been corrupted in such a way that my password is no longer accepted.
Questions:
1) Is there any way for me to check the integrity of the BC config and installation?
2) What BC files should I back up before attempting disk repair? Any other do’s and dont’s?
3) Where can I access the files encrypted by BC since drive X won’t mount? I understand they’ll be encrypted but I would still like to back them up as well.
4) What’s the significance of Boxcryptor all of a sudden demanding a password on startup, which it doesn’t normally do? What would trigger this?
Thanks!
