Deat Boxcryptor Team,

I'm a caustomer for ages.. and as alot of other BC users, i want to sync a backup of my local data of my Synology NAS to a cloud drive. I would also pay something like an Option to my anual BC subscription.
Use Case: User want to Sync an specific folder of his NAS to a cloud drive fully encrypted. On the NAS itself the Data are'nt encrypted. With the Android App its possible to open the encrypted data on the cloud.

may the discussion starts ;.-)

cheers

This would be very helpful. Our users leverage Synology drive quite heavily and having Boxcryptor limited to local folders is not helpful. Please add this as an option!

Hello.
We have this on our roadmap, but actually we can't give you here any details at the moment.

alexdimarco: you can add shares from your Synology NAS as a location to Boxcryptor and save the stuff directly there. For sure, a Desktop/mobile app is still needed.

Yasmin Hi! When you say mobile app is still needed what do you mean? I have the Boxcryptor mobile app but I am unable to find the option to add Synology Cloud to it? My Boxcryptor does work with my Synology Drive very well on my computer though!

benzenering06 I mean a computer/mobile device is still needed to encrypt the files on the NAS (no native app/package for Synoogy). On a mobile device you must use WebDAV to connect to your Synology NAS.

Yes, a Synology Drive integration in the boxcryptor Apple app would be really usefull to be done.

I tried to connect my smartphone using webdav but it didn't work. I obviously installed Webdav in my NAS and used the webdav option in boxcryptor app but the problem, I think, is the address: I used https://webdav.myname.synology.me:5006 but it was ineffective. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank You.

this thread is one year old now.

any news regarding a native boxcryptor app on synology NAS, to de-/encrypt directly on the NAS?

it would have several advantages, for example:

-) you just need boxcryptor installed on your NAS and you don't have to install it on every computer in your LAN.
-) you make boxcryptor independent from your used operating systems in your LAN. unfortunately, there is no native linux app of boxcryptor available. with an app for your NAS, you could connect with windows pc, mac, linux machines, etc... .

              Hi MikeJohns,

I'm sorry, but we do not have any news regarding support for NAS systems from Synology or other vendors. While we like the idea, we do not have any concrete plans for such a client.

              Best regards,
              Robert

Synology Drive Client is the desktop utility that provides file syncing and personal computer backup services on multiple client computers to a centralized server, Synology Drive Server.

Before setting up the utility, choose a Synology NAS as the host server and install Synology Drive Server on it. Then, sign in with an account belonging to your DSM administrators group, and go to Package Center to install the Synology Drive Server package. .
