  • No "want to encrypt?" popup on folder creation, ("Mount for all users" selected)

No "Do you want to encrypt" popup when creating a new folder and "Mount for all users" is selected

Normally in Boxcryptor, when i try to create a new folder, a popup appears asking "Do you want to encrypt?"
I can then choose between "Encrypt" and "Do not encrypt"
However when i have selected in settings/advanced "Mount for all users" This popup does not appear
Resulting into that i have to mark the created folder for encryption afterwards. This in inconvenient because then the folder gets renamed and into foldername_encrypted and i have to rename it back if i want the original name back.
Is this as designed ? or is this bug?
If it is as designed is there a reason for that?

I use Boxcryptor in OneDrive (in case that makes a difference)

  • Hi Hennie
    This behavior is intended.
Since Mount for all users allows the Boxcryptor volume to be access by other users on the system, we are not able to show a UI popup and block the filesystem until the user "decides".
The popup can only be "handled" by the user that started Boxcryptor and thus the Boxcryptor drive would hang as soon as the other user tries to create new files / folders in an unencrypted parent.

    Best regards,
