Hi,

I use Google Drive File Stream for storing about 3 tb of text documents. I use Google Drive File Stream to save space on my laptop, as the files and folders are streamed from the cloud.

When i began the process of encrypting the files and folders in Google Drive File Stream, Boxcryptor saved the encrypted files local on my laptop. My harddrive ran out of space fast as it is only 400gb.

Its not possible to perform a "selective sync" in Google Drive File Stream.

Is there a way to avoid Boxcryptor from downloading all the files during and after encryption ? I would like to keep the files encrypted in the cloud without having the files on my laptop.

If possible - what would be the best practice of doing so ?

Should unlink the Google cloud service in preferences and only use Boxcryptor Portable - or is there a better solution ?

Any advices much appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi CLNA,
When Boxcryptor needs to decrypt / encrypt files on demand they will be made available locally (just as if with any other program that requires physical IO access).

What you can do is to batch perform your "initial" encryption procedure.
Then, after the batch has been successfully synchronized, go to the respective physical Google Drive File Stream folder and set the folder to Online only via the context menu. This will then delete the physical files from your drive.

    Best regards,
    Florian
