He Everyone,
Let me start by sharing that I am very new to Boxcryptor, and to encryption in general, so please accept my apologies in advance for my apparent ignorance in the question for which I need your input.
I purchased Boxcryptor principally to encrypt a subset of files on my Windows 10 PC that are backed up onto Google Drive. Google Drive is easy to use and has provided me a level of confidence in knowing that my information is reliably backup to the cloud. But ensuring data privacy with respect to my stored backups has been the reason for my purchase of Boxcryptor.
My question is one of recovery in the event of a hard drive failure on my local PC.
In my experience, restoring files from Google has been very straightforward, I’ve not had any issues there. But what about those files that are encrypted with Boxcryptor? If my hard drive crashes unexpectedly, and I am obliged to replace it with a new one, what is the process to decrypt the encrypted backup files once I have restored them to my new drive from the cloud?
Your insights would be most welcomed,
Kind regards,
Carl
