Hi, folks. I'm a new Boxcryptor Personal licensee working on macOS 11.4, Big Sur.
Basic Understanding
I'm coming to understand the Boxcryptor workflow. As I understand it, a) I interact with my encrypted files through the Boxcryptor folder in macOS Finder and b) the Boxcryptor folder in my Finder is just a virtual window into all my encrypted folders, not a copy of the actual data.
If someone could confirm that both my (a) and (b) assumptions are correct, I'd be very appreciative.
Issue with local/NAS files
The issue is that the behavior of Boxcryptor seems different for my use with DropBox vs folders on my local Mac hard drive or my QNAP network attached storage drives.
Specifically, with DropBox I created a folder in the Boxcryptor drive and immediately was prompted to mark it as encrypted. I did so and from then on, as I add new files to that folder through the Boxcryptor drive, they are automatically encrypted. That's great, and exactly what I expect.
But on my Mac's local drive and NAS drives this is not the case. Specifically, in the Boxcryptor drive or through the Boxcryptor preferences window I have created new folders either locally or on a NAS drive but see no way to encrypt the entire folder's contents, nor a way to be sure that every file I add to the folder is encrypted automatically.
I'm sure I'm doing something fundamentally wrong and appreciate some guidance. Thank you!
