Alternatives for local file encryption

I only used Boxcryptor to locally encrypt files. I really liked how you could mount a new drive letter and all your work when using that drive was implicitly encrypted, then I could actually backup those ".bc" extension files.

Is there a similar service I can migrate to?

The email from BoxCryptor was a little short - not offering any alternatives.

grillbox Yes, there is Cryptomator. Just search for it on Google.

One of the alternatives might be AxCrypt. It can be used to encrypt single files as well as folders (including subfolders).
It will also work with cloud based storage but it will work better when used on the locally synced folder as that will ensure the files will be encrypted before they are uploaded to the cloud.
If you want your files in a container then there are some alternatives:

VeraCrypt (a TrueCrypt succesor) may be an option, it is free.
Jetico BestCrypt is commercial software doing the same. They also have a volume encryption option where you can encrypt an entire volume and not need additional drive letters like VeraCrypt and Cryptomator. This will be useful if you have a computer with multiple partitioned hard drives and do not have many available drive letters left.
